Just needs a bit of touch-up

I would say to remove the clapping hands early on (or add tons more, to sound like a huge crowd or mob stomping at once), and to really amp up the number and intensity of the choir about halfway through the song. But great job, and I'm glad not to hear a simple remix!

Nanashi responds:

Thanks. Good feedback
But one little problem. There aren't any clapping sounds in this song. You might be hearing the sticks sound. That's the sound of a 'drumstick' being hit against the rim of a Japanese drum, but I suppose it could use some chorus.
:)

Great potential

I would say at 0:22 you should amp up the theme with a small brass/large strings support, still keeping the hornpipe/bagpipe as the prominent instrument, with lots of drums instead of just one towards the end, and a half-dozen layered bagpipes instead of the single one at around 0:40.
Although this would change the feel of your song from a lighter and smaller piece to a more orchestral one, I personally think it would be an amazingly entrancing piece. Good work!

flashpantss responds:

Thanks!

I completely agree that this can be a big orchestral piece. But, when i made this I planned on making a light and small song.

thanks again for the review.

Interesting

This sounds very similar to the music from both Sins of a Solar Empire as well as Mechwarrior 4 (The background ambient tune sounds like the loading screen music). Were you inspired by either of these, or is it just a coincidence?

Gravey responds:

I mentioned in the authors comments section that the soundtrack to Dante's Inferno is what inspired this piece. I've actually never even heard of the first game. And I've never played Mechwarrior.

Holy cow...

I never would have thought you could have made a song that had lyrics that matched the music as well as made sense for the game. Similar lyrical songs (Kindred for Metroid or Forest Prayer on OCRemix for Forest Temple of LOZOOT) have singing, but it doesn't really match the original feel or intentions of the songs as well as this. Actually made me cry a bit. Superb.

vwvSTATICvwv responds:

Thanks man! I actually got the idea to remix this song when I was working at walmart as a cashier lol and I was singing it to myself and it made me cry too haha so I decided I had to put all the emotion into a recording. Glad it transferred through the music! :)

Superb

This is, hand down, the best Koopa's Beach remix I have ever heard, on any site. I would strongly recommend you submit this to OCRemix, as this would easily get accepted.
I love the vaguely jazz-guitar feel, but that it isn't too strong, and the drums are subdued enough that they don't dominate the main theme. Wonderful job, 10/10 and 5/5

Soundshifter responds:

Thank you very much :)

Superb

I have rarely heard such a good rendition of the Song of Healing, and the Deku Palace is much smoother and richer then other versions I've heard (Perhaps even better then the original...). I would just recommend a bit smoother transition between songs, perhaps with a little ocarina or some light woodwind perhaps. But amazing job overall.

HexMonkey responds:

Thank you. If I do another comp I'll keep that in mind.

Really good

You managed to keep the original tune intact, but soothed it so it just sounds like a fast-paced orchestral piece. I would only suggest the piano be louder, and maybe throw in a support trumpet or similar to play the bass harmony, as it sometimes sounds a bit empty in parts where you would normally hear that.

Pianosketcher responds:

cool, i'll try that.

Not bad

I'd recommend some sort of interesting change in the song around the first third, similar to the rising/sinking tones in the second third. Plus, is it just me, or does this sound a lot like the haunted house music from Super Mario 64?

MarkySpark responds:

Hi, I didn't develop this as a song, I just played it improv as it is and didn't really think about it too much. Simple to play and can be affective for menu's etc. To be honest I can't even remember the haunted house on the 64, so just you there :-)

Holy crap...

This could be used for trailers for the LOTR series. I kinda hate that I can't animate Flash to save my soul, but I could imagine an epic story to go along with this:
The scene opens up along forests and mountaint (0:00-0:17)
You see the scene of a burning village under attack by the evil wizard, who kills the four heroes parents and kin (0:18-42)
The four orphans make a pledge to avenge their family, and set out on an epic journey(0:43-0:46)
More epic traveling (0:47-1:22)
Remembrance of their parents as they huddle around a campfire (1:23-1:34)
More epic traveling, defeating dungeons and saving other villages from the wizards' minions (1:35-2:12)
The wizard senses they';re approaching, and stalks out of his castle to the front gate (2:13-2:35)
Evil wizard raises a huge army of undead in front of his castle, as the camera pans back across the open blighted plain (2:36-2:44)
Epic view of the four heroes walking over the ridge overlooking the plain, and they pose epically against the sunset (2:45-2:57)
They ready their weapons, planting their banner in the grass, and charge the undead army (2:58-3:09)
Other soldiers begin to charge over the ridge, and the camera pans up to reveal a huge army of allies of the champions, come to help them defeat the wizard (3:10-3:22)
The wizard sees the army, and has the undead charge and meet them head-on (3:23-3:35)
The armies clash, the heroes smiting the enemies and clearing a wide swath to their target, the hated wizard (3:36-3:45)
The wizard is revealed in an opening, and as they charge him, the skies go dark and giant hairy legs begin to grow from his back, the the screen cuts to black(3:46-3:55)
Seriously, this song is one of the few I can map out an entire video sequence, from start to finish, in my head. 9,000 Kudo points, and 10/10.

DavidOrr responds:

Wonderful story, I love reading these! Thanks for the review!

Decent

You kept the original theme tune, while making it your own. I would suggest adding a secondary supporting tune to round it out, as it currently feels slightly echoey and hollow in places. This would also allow you to make it more unique to your style as well. Other then that, not bad at all.
