Phenomenal

Lots of art games show up on Newgrounds, and not all of them are good. Some have poor level design, which hampers their overall message and it's delivery. Others lack a good message to complement a design.

Occasionally, one comes along that makes you think, creates emotions where none existed before. A game like this.

I would never have expected to emphasize with a fictional anthropomorphic game, but you have managed to pull this off perfectly. Superb job.

Decent

Really though, you can't expect people to use their spacebar sight thing for detecting spikes when it expires after a couple uses. Perhaps instead of making it a single-use thing that recharges in sunlight/after dying, maybe make it a slowly recharging thing?

Otherwise it's a pain in the ass when you are forced to use it to get around fallen rocks, and since there's absolutely no cues aside from the sight-thing when you're near a pit.

Piranha Plants of DOOOOM

Fun game, and good graphics. I'd only suggest better balance, as the plants are waaaay overpowered (perhaps shorter range or less damage?) and I used little else besides them and beeehives on every level, as well as a better mix of enemies. More of the climbers or titan guys would make it a much better challenge, as it's currently a breeze with certain strategies...

Could be really amazing...

I understand all of the stats, but the fact you miss so much, especially versus higher level enemies, and that the save areas are at the camps (which are few and far between) makes this an ass-pain. I would prefer if there was also an accuracy stat, to reduce miss chances, since a high damage or dexterity means diddly-squat when 9/10 of your attacks miss.
Also, a few minor (and not score-affecting) points:
-I'd prefer if you could alter the battle sounds, so misses and blocks (is there a difference?) had different sound effects
-I liked the anime-humorous enemies, but it kind-of broke the immersion, especially with stuff like the "Corrupted Gumdrop" or the screaming pepper
-The relics are awesome, but i'd prefer if you could use more then 1 (3? 2 perhaps?), and also included the fact that to use it, I had to deselect the current relic. I thought their abilities stacked...

With a few minor changes, this could be really awesome and a 10/10 easy!

Could be a decent game...

You really need a better system for some of the stats, especially speed. Because the speed system is basically you attack a number of times the enemy stat is divisible by yours, if the enemy had something like 1601 and I had 3200, I would only attack once per their attack (especially sucky vs skellies) instead of attacking almost two full attacks per their attack.
The attack/defense system was obscure as well, as even at levels under 100 I would be getting hit for 1000 damage by skeletons who had half the attack of my defense.
These, along with the unclear system of % bonus for stats, makes it kind of crappy as a number-crunching game. I'd suggest to make the attack/defense and speed more intuitive, and add items/maps like others have suggested. Then this might get a weekly winner and a much higher score...

Awesome

Found a bug though: Swimming into the left underwater wall of the first (only?) water level causes you to be stuck in it displaying the freefall animation. Couldn't figure out how to reset. Just thought I'd let you know!

Not a very fun game...

I have never watched the movie, and while I have no doubt that this is accurate to the movie, it was extremely boring. The graphics were pretty, and the few minigames were slightly entertaining, but the dozens of text blocks bogged down the already-repetitive game.
On the physical game itself, pretty graphics, and my only note would be that the game slows down near the broken bridge, the destroyed plot department, and the electronics store. Other then that, the game itself worked fine.
Overall, not a fan of this one, despite the twist ending. Sorry.

Very good

Engaging, slightly funny, and an interesting gameplay. I would agree that slightly better instruction on the score/blue radius mechanic would be better, and I personally HATE the stupid "post your score" after EVERY level.
I would suggest adding a tickbox to allow you to prevent it from popping up after every game, but the game itself is very solid. Good job!

Cool, but...

If you run out of money, there is no cash trickle (like most other defense games), so you're screwed. This makes hard modes ridiculous because the enemy can use the area of effect spells for apparently no xp cost. This means that on hard and insane difficulty, if the enemy gets the upper hand by killing your army right after you advance an age, you have no way of even killing his units, since you can't make any due to lack of funds. Fix this with a trickle of like 10 gold per second or something, and I can consider this a 9/10.

Awesome game

Fun to play, but the controls were a bit hard to use. Simon can't direct a jump without double jumping, making jumping onto/over a small obstacle really hard, especially in areas like World 1-2. Even if it is the way he may have been controlled in the original Castlevania, it makes him really difficult to play and enjoy, when coupling all the other hindrances (short whip range with low damage). Also, there should be something to spice up Mario, because now I never play as him... :D
